FENCING CLINICS

This December Todd Nash will teach Fencing Clinics in 4 sites in Northern California.  In May, 2012, Todd will teach Fencing Clinics in 12 sites in southern California.  The class will teach the basic skills in foil fencing including body position, footwork, attacks, right of way, and parries (defenses).  All students will start with the practice foil (as seen below) when learning the basic skills, and will quickly progress into using the foil and fence with another student (also seen in the pictures below).  All students will wear the standard protective gear when fencing with the actual foil.  This is a safe sport when done correctly with proper protective gear on.

Equipment: No equipment purchase is required on your part for the classes.  Todd will provide all the necessary equipment.  If you would like to purchase your own equipment, Todd can refer you to a fencing supply company.  This class will give you or your kids the chance to experience fencing without a major investment on your part!  Participants should bring a handkerchief, scarf, or skull cap of some kind to wear under the mask when they fence with the protective gear on.  Masks will be shared by students in the club so everyone should wear something on their head under the mask.  It may be helpful if your student wears something with some padding such as a jean jacket, sweatshirt, or something to provide some more padding on the torso.  Fencing jackets are provided (along with fencing gloves and masks) which provide adequate protection, but some students may want extra padding.  Students can wear jeans, sweatpants, or shorts.  The sport is safe, and they will not get injured with the protective equipment on.  The class is open to boys and girls ages 5 and up, adult children, parents, relatives, etc.  Yes, mom and dad can be in the class with their kids!  Students from ANY school background may participate - pass the word to all of your friends.

Directions to each site will be posted below when the schedule is determined for southern California Clinics.  The Northern California Clinics are shown.  Payments should be mailed in to Todd at the address below.  Write on the memo line of your check "FENCING" AND THE SITE.  The first 18 registered and paid will participate.
