Track & Field Meet

California Athletics for Home Schools will host a track & field meet at Calvin Christian School in Escondido on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  The meet will start at 12:00 AM, and should finish by 3:00 PM.  The younger athletes (Bantam) will be finished earlier (usually in about 2 hours).  Children from ages 5 to 18 are welcome to compete, and no experience or training is needed.  It will be a friendly environment to learn how a meet is conducted.  It is open to students who are home schooled, in private school, charter schools, or public school.  The only restriction is that high school students competing on a CIF team must compete "unattached", not wearing their school uniform.  So anyone can compete!  Please free to register and compete, regardless of your school background.

Directions: Take your freeways to the intersection of I-15 and Hwy 78 in Escondido, go East on 78 to the first stoplight, turn left (north) on Broadway, drive about 1 mile, Calvin will be on your right side just after passing Escondido High School.  Turn right in front of the school, park in the lot on your right or on the street, the track is behind the high school.  Address: 2000 N Broadway, Escondido.

When you arrive, go to the check in table to pay your $10 entry fee and get your sticker that has your events and name.  You cannot compete without that sticker - it shows that you have paid.

You may wear spikes for the meet.  If you are on the jumping surfaces, 1/4" is the max.  The track is a dirt track, so you may wear 1/2" spikes on the track, but make sure you do not wear these on the runways for the jumps.  If you will do both running and jumping events, you should wear 1/4" spikes for both.  Shot and Discus are concrete circles, and the Javelin will be contested in the grass, so you may wear spikes or cleats for the javelin.

To register for the track meet go to the home page and click on REGISTER.  Bring with you the $10 entry fee for the meet, (exact cash please), and choose your events as the meet starts.  See you at the track!
