Soccer Classes, Southern California, Jan-Feb, 2006

These are directions to the basketball classes in Southern California held in January and February of 2006.  At each class site, look for me (Todd Nash) in a tan Toyota Previa van.  I'm 6' 4", 225 lbs, wearing a blue t-shirt with a white CAHS logo on it.  I will park and immediately start unloading equipment - send your kids over to help!

Monday 8:00-9:00 Whittier:  Palm Park: Thomas Guide p. 677, A-5.  Take I-605 to Whittier Ave East, turn left on Broadway, then immediately left on Palm Ave.  The park is on the left in 2-3 blocks.  Meet me on Palm Ave as I park the Previa there.

Monday 9:30-10:30 Arcadia:  Eisenhower Park.  Thomas Guide p. 567, D-4.  Take 210 to Santa Anita South, immediately turn left on Colorado Blvd, then turn left on 2nd Ave, the park is on the left - enter the park at the second entrance on the left on 2nd, at the parking lot by the softball field.  Meet by the softball field at the North end of the park to help carry equipment.  We will use the field next to the parking lot.

Monday 11:00-12:00 Pomona:  Palomares Park, 499 E Arrow Hwy, Thomas Guide p. 601, A-4.  Take I-10 to Towne Ave North, turn left just after passing Pomona High school on Arrow Hwy, the park is on the right in 1 block.  Meet just north of the basketball courts.

Monday 1:00-2:00 Mission Viejo 1:  Cousteau Park:  Take I-5 to Alicia Pkwy West, after about 100 meters, turn left at a light on Cousteau, the park is immediately on the right.  Parking is on the street.  We will meet in the grass just south of the basketball court.

Tuesday 9:00-10:00 Carlsbad:  Poinsettia Park, Thomas Guide p. 1127, A-4.  Take I-5 to Palomar Airport Road East, turn right on Hidden Valley Road (south), the park is at the top of the hill on the right.  Turn right into the main entrance, then immediately turn right and follow the parking lot to the West end of the park by the bathrooms.  Meet there in the parking lot and help carry the equipment to the soccer field below the lot.

Tuesday 10:45-11:45 La Mesa:   Harry Griffin Park.  Thomas Guide p. 1251, C-7.  Take I-8 to 125 North, exit Amaya East, turn right on Water St, then left on Daggett Way, then left at the top of the hill into the park.  It is very tricky to find if you have not been there before, so I recommend looking at map-quest and taking your map along with the park already located.  

Tuesday 12:20-1:20 Poway:  Hilleary Park: Take I-15 to Poway Rd, go east on Poway Road, turn left (north) at the light on Community, the park is on the left at the light with Hilleary.  Park in the lot and we will use the soccer field north of the lot.

Tuesday, 1:45-2:45 Escondido:  Calvin Christian High School fields in Escondido, 2000 N Broadway, Escondido.  Take 15 North to 78 East, at the first light turn left onto Broadway, drive North past Escondido High School, Calvin will be on your right side 1/2 mile after Escondido High School, just before the road narrows to 2 lanes.  Turn right to go in front of the school, enter at the far end of the school and meet in the parking lot at the far east end of the school.  We will carry equipment to the fields behind the school where we will hold class.  Please do not park in the lot beside the school - they hold PE classes there, and please do not park immediately in front of the school.  Park across the street to leave the Calvin parking to Calvin staff and families.  We are using their fields and facilities at no cost to us on a cooperative relationship with Todd, so please be courteous and yield to Calvin families and personnel the close parking.  Thanks!

Wednesday 8:30-9:30, Temecula:  Pala Park: Thomas Guide p. 979, C-3.  Take I-15 to the south end of Temecula, exit Hwy 79 South, then turn right (south) on Pechanga Parkway, at the second stop turn left on Loma Linda, then immediately turn left on Temecula, the park is on the right in 50 yards.  Meet at the basketball court.

Wednesday 10:30-11:30, Riverside:   Don Lorenzi Sports Complex. Thomas Guide p. 714, J-4.  At the intersection of Jackson St and California Ave in Riverside.  Take 91 to Van Buren North, turn right on California, the park will be on your left just before Jackson.  Meet in the parking lot on the North side of the park on the street. 

Wednesday 12:30-1:30 Anaheim:  Grivalja Park, 368 N Prospect Ave, Orange, Thomas guide p. 800, B-3.  Take 55 to Chapman East, left on Prospect, the park is on the left.  You may have to pass it and make a U-Turn to get to it.  Click on this link to see it: http://www.cityoforange.org/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=2445

It looks like a much nicer park than where we have been meeting in Anaheim, so let's see if it is in a good location for everyone.  Let me know it it is too far away for you to attend if you have been going to Boysen Park in Anaheim with us for classes in the past.  It is closer for those in the Santa Ana/Irvine area.

Thursday 10:40-11:40, Huntington Beach:  Greer Park, Thomas Guide p. 827, G-4.  Take I-405 to Golden West St south, turn right on McFadden and immediately right into the parking lot.  Meet at the softball field immediately off the parking lot. 

Thursday 12:15-1:15, Torrance:  McMaster Park, Thomas Guide p. 763, E-1, I-405 to Artesia East, right on Yukon at the library, immediate right behind library into lot.
