Directions

Volleyball/Football Classes, Southern California, Jan-Feb, 2007

These are directions to the volleyball/football classes in Southern California held in January-February of 2007.  At each class site, look for me (Todd Nash) in a tan or white Toyota Previa van.  I'm 6' 4", 225 lbs, wearing a blue t-shirt with a white CAHS logo on it.  I will park and immediately start unloading equipment - send your kids over to help!

Monday 9:00-10:00 Glendale:  Cresenta Valley Park: On mapquest.com see the intersection of Honolulu Ave and New York Ave in Glendale.  Take I-210, exit Pennsylvania Ave in La Cresenta (Glendale), turn south, turn right on Honolulu, turn left on New York at the beginning of the park, park immediately on the right side on the street.  The baseball diamond is just west of the playground on that corner.  Watch for Todd to arrive in a Toyota Previa van and help unload the gear.  We will meet at the baseball diamond on the east side of the park, just off the intersection of Honolulu and New York.

Monday 10:50-11:50 Pomona:  Palomares Park, 499 E Arrow Hwy, Thomas Guide p. 601, A-4.  Take I-10 to Towne Ave North, turn left just after passing Pomona High school on Arrow Hwy, the park is on the right in 1 block.  Meet just north of the basketball courts near the baseball field.  (Note the time change - 10 minutes earlier)

Monday 12:45-1:45 Mission Viejo 1:  Cousteau Park:  Take I-5 to Alicia Pkwy West, after about 100 meters, turn left at a light on Cousteau, the park is immediately on the right.  Parking is on the street.  We will meet in the grass just south of the basketball court.  We may move to Alicia Park after 1 or 2 weeks of class, depending on the skill level and size of some of the class members, particularly when we evaluate hitting ability.  (Note the time change - 15 minutes earlier)

Tuesday 9:00-10:00 Carlsbad:  Poinsettia Park, Thomas Guide p. 1127, A-4.  Take I-5 to Palomar Airport Road East, turn right on Hidden Valley Road (south), the park is at the top of the hill on the right.  Turn right into the main entrance, then immediately turn right and follow the parking lot to the West end of the park by the bathrooms.  Meet there in the parking lot and help carry the equipment to the soccer field below the lot.  Yes, we will start out on the soccer field.  We may move over to the baseball fields, but they are usually grooming there in the morning, so we may stay on the nice dry, artificial turn soccer field.

Tuesday 10:45-11:45 La Mesa:  Rolondo Park, Alamo Way & Vigo Dr in La Mesa.  Thomas Guide p. 1270, E-4  From the West/South, take I-8 East, exit Lake Murray Blvd/70th St and turn right to go South on 70th.  Turn right on Alamo Way before getting to University. The road bends to the left after 6 blocks and stops at Alamo Dr.  Turn left on Alamo Dr and immediately left on Vigo.  The park is on the left.

Tuesday 12:15-1:15 Rancho Penasquitos:  Views West Community Park: Thomas Guide p. 1189, F-5.  Take I-15 to the Rancho Penasquitos/Poway Rd exit, go west to Rancho Penasquitos Blvd, at the top of the hill, turn left on Calle De Las Rosas, at the top of the hill, turn right on La Tortola, park is on the right at the bottom of the hill.  Meet at the lower baseball field.  (Note the time change: 5 minutes earlier)

Tuesday, 1:40-2:40 Escondido:  Calvin Christian School.  Take 15 to 78 East, turn left at the first light on Broadway, drive past Escondido High School, Calvin will be on the right side, turn right in front of the school, drop your kids at the far end of the school past the gym.  Please do not park in front of the school or in the open lot on the side of the school.  Please park on the street or across the street in the lot.  (Note the time change: 5 minutes earlier)

Wednesday 8:30-9:30, Temecula:  Pala Park.  Take I-15 to 79 East on the south side of Temecula, turn right at the light on Pechanga Parkway, then left at a light on Muirfield Dr, then right at the T at the end of the street, the park is 1 block ahead of you at the end of the street.  Meet at the basketball court.

Wednesday 10:30-11:30, Riverside:   Don Lorenzi Sports Complex. Thomas Guide p. 714, J-4.  At the intersection of Jackson St and California Ave in Riverside.  Take 91 to Van Buren North, turn right on California, the park will be on your left just before Jackson.  Meet in the parking lot on the North side of the park on the street. 

Wednesday 12:20-1:20 Anaheim/Orange:  Grivalja Park, 368 N Prospect Ave, Orange, Thomas guide p. 800, B-3.  Take 55 to Chapman East, left on McPherson, it runs into the parking lot for the park.  You can also get there from the North by taking Prospect south and turning right on E Spring St after passing the park, the parking lot is at the end of Spring on the right.  Click on this link to see it: http://www.cityoforange.org/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=2445  We will meet at the far end of the parking lot (east - close to the bathrooms and playground) and use the soccer fields below.  (Note the time change: 10 minutes earlier)

Thursday 12:10-1:10, Torrance:  McMaster Park, Thomas Guide p. 763, E-1, I-405 to Artesia East, right on Yukon at the library, immediate right behind library into lot.  (Note the time change: 5 minutes earlier)
