Track & Field

In the spring of 2011 California Athletics will field a track & field team with opportunities for athletes in the club track system USATF. More information will be posted on this opportunity as it develops through next school year. Practices will be at Calvin Christian School in Escondido with the track available 3:00-5:00 each day on weekdays. Most meets are on Saturdays.

Daily practice is not required, but is a part of the lettering standards for high school athletes. You can train at the track or at home. We will compete in several meets at Calvin Christian School as well as having many other invitational meets available. The schedule will be posted early in the spring. Todd Nash will be available at the track several days each week for practices for working on specific technique in field events.

Workout schedules will be posted here on the website as the season draws closer to enable athletes to train independently from home whenever possible. Todd Nash will also be available at the track at Calvin for technical work on field events and some running events.

Costs:

	The athletic fee will be $300 per track & field athlete for the season for all athletes 7th grade and up, and $250 per athlete for younger than 7th grade. This is not for coaching. This fee is for making the program possible, administrative work, having a facility to train at, etc. All athletes will not get the same amount of "face time" with Coach Nash at the track. There are many factors in that equation, but all athletes will be able to train at the track with other athletes and will have coaching available from a coach. Workouts will be given to all athletes.
	There may also be additional costs for meet uniforms (approximately $40)
	Meet entry fees (typically $5 - $10 per meet).
	Travel costs to some meets; most are in San Diego County.
	Training shoes, equipment, and special spikes for competing.
	Parents will be expected to volunteer for a home school meet hosted by California Athletics in the spring at Calvin Christian School. Each athlete competing on the team will be expected to supply one or more adult workers for the meet - a parent or relative. You will be the officials for the meet. We will host 100+ athletes for a meet in April, May, or June.

This is a competitive program for home schooled athletes who wish to compete in track & field at a higher level. To register for the track & field team, click on the REGISTER button on the home page.
